AccuRIP Line Screens, Mesh and More
AccuRIP Black Pearl™ and SE upon the Wizard Setup will ask you to select options for the shape and size of the halftone.
Halftone Selection Formula
A common line screen (frequency) selected by screen printers is 45. It is coarse enough to capture during the screen exposure process, but not too coarse to appear chunky. Your screen exposure and press skills play into the selection as well. The higher the line screen the more skill required.
There are easy mathematical formulas for selecting a line screen when you know the screen mesh count you will be using, or which screen mesh count to select when you know the line screen you will use.
Line Screen X 5 = Mesh Count (i.e. 45 line screen x 5 = 225). Select the closest (higher) mesh count. In this case a 230 mesh.
Mesh Count divided by 5 (i.e. 230 mesh divided by 5 = 46). Select a 46 line screen or round down to a common number such as 45.
Mesh counts are in U.S. measurements as well as European metric. Google a mesh conversion chart.
