Some printer models load film to the right side of the media loader while others center load.

Using a right side loading printer, setup an art board to match the dimensions of your film scrap. Depending on the width and height of that film scrap choose any sheet media size in AccuRIP that is larger than those dimensions.

For this example we are printing to a 7” x 6” film scrap. I’ll set AccuRIP to Letter size media and Click Apply to save that change.

When ready to print choose the AccuRIP Emerald print driver then set a “custom” media size to match the art board and film dimensions. All right side media loading printers begin printing from the zero origin point always located in the upper left corner for all sheet media sizes.

Emerald shows the print preview and location.

Center media loading printers can achieve this level of control by simply setting up the image “centered” in stock media sizes.

In this example I have a scrap of film that is 4″ x 12″. I’ll set AccuRIP to 11×17 media.

Create an art board to match the width and height of the film scrap. Choose the AccuRIP Emerald print driver then set media to 11×17 to match the Emerald media setting. In the Options Area set the Y Placement Value to zero.

Having an image properly centered on an expected media size allows AccuRIP to print that image successfully to any size film scrap.

Emerald shows the print preview and location exactly where the user expects it to be centered.
