Channels are the best way to create, manage, and print solid and halftone spot color separations. Screen printers have specific separation needs. Using channels is the best way to get the control we need. Multichannel mode separations are easy to handle and print.
Remove the RGB or CMYK channels from your Photoshop file. This automatically converts the file to the Multichannel mode. Click and Drag. Now convert all channels to spot colors. Double Click.
