Epson’s bulk ink style EcoTank desktop printers are unlike any previous small cartridge based printers.

Read all Epson supplied instructions, especially the START HERE document, before filling or starting a printer for the first time.

Different Epson printer models use different startup steps regarding filling ink and powering up the printer.

A proper setup will save you lots of time and effort.

Printing films with Dmax Black Dye produces the most dense and durable ultraviolet light blocking result at the highest level.

Perfect screen exposure every time.

Some printer models work best replacing stock Epson black ink with Dmax Black Dye filling the remaining color tanks with Epson ink.

If the printer has both a black and photo black tank, fill the photo black tank.

While other models work best as an All Black Ink printer.

Review Freehand’s compatibility webpage before proceeding. https://solutionsforscreenprinters.com/supported-printers/

If your printer model is supported by the ABI feature, you can decide at any time to fill all tanks with Dmax Black Dye converting the printer to a true All Black Ink system producing the highest quality prints.

Let’s get started.

Freehand’s Dmax EcoTank Conversion Kit is required.

Here’s how to setup a NEW printer: First read Epson’s supplied START HERE document.

Follow these steps to properly fill ink and power up the printer.

Securely attach the funnel to the purple silicon hose.

Open the ink tank cover to expose the ink tank filling tubes.

Firmly attach the open end of the purple silicone hose to a tank fill tube on the printer, ensuring a tight seal.

Slowly pour Dmax Black Dye into the funnel to fill just the black ink tank or all ink tanks until the ink level reaches the top fill hash mark.

Carefully remove the purple hose with funnel from the printer.

If only filling the black tank, use the stock Epson color ink bottles to fill the remaining ink tanks properly as instructed by Epson.

If setting up an All Black Ink printer fill all tanks with Dmax Black Dye.

Start the printer.

After the initial ink charging has completed, use the Epson driver Utility to print a Nozzle Pattern test print.

When the printer is charged with Dmax Black Dye and ready to print, open AccuRIP Emerald, from the Inks tab choose either MONO or ABI mode.

If the Apply button becomes available, click it to lock in your setting.

Happy Printing.
