Custom Templates Guide

Freehand offers a line of pre-made marks to choose from and you can even make your own.

To do so, create a NEW page in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW that matches the size or your film media.

Keeping all marks a half inch away from all edges, layout your registration marks, cutlines, and gradation bars. Use Registration color for all marks. If creating gradation bars be sure to tint them to the desired percentage. Don’t use a transparency feature.

Create a rectangle to contain your image. This will be the maximum image area for this template. A quick user tip is to keep the rectangle a comfortable distance away from your marks making it easier to cover these marks when printing.

Label the Image Container “imagerect”.

Create a rectangle to contain the separation labels. This box must be 24pts. high, it can be any width that suites your needs. A Quick Tip: A container 216pts wide (3 inches) can display up to 16 characters.

Label this container “labelrect”.

Save the file as an SVG using these settings.

In CorelDRAW set your document height and width to match your film media size.

When in Sep Studio’s Print window open the Marks tab.

Here you can create and manage Categories to organize your templates.

Click the Template + icon to load your template.
