Today, lets separate a 3 color vector PDF file.
Files supplied by clients or downloaded from the internet that can seem easy usually are the ones that cost us the most time.
This file was created using a mix of process and spot colors. Sep Studio™ instantly converted the process white into useful spot color separation.
Lets choose a textile color. For this we’re going to use charcoal.
You can even print these seps for your client as a full color image directly from the program to any color printer.
We’ll also need an underbase for this.
All separations in a file are listed and you can decide to use any combination.
Don’t worry this feature is live and you can edit the underbase over and over until it’s time to print.
Lets set the choke at a 0.1.
If you have some press registration issues you can spread the colors. In this file we have some halftones on the yellow so we’re going to turn that off.
Now lets set the file up on PressFit.
The underbase is automatically added to the first print position. We can add the separations to the press as we like and the order that they appear on press will be the print order labeled on all of our films.
Now we’re ready to go print.
Halftones will print with these values while solid seps remain solid. Print Commander gives us full control over every part of the printing.
Screen printers need large, clear marks. This program delivers. It was designed by screen printers for screen printers. Nothing unnecessary will be found here.
Easily choose the films we want to print, resize the file if needed, add notes, calibrations bars, it’s all here.
The client supplied us with a small file but now they want it to be a full chest print. No problem, lets change the height to 10.
Now we have 4 films ready to print.
Lets see what happens if we rotate the orientation. Great. This job auto-nested 2 seps helping us print just two films now.
Click print and our films go directly to our inkjet printer, no need for an external RIP. Everything a screen printer needs is built into this program.
I have one more trick for you today.
Since we have an underbase screen and a white spot color lets use the underbase for those white areas saving us a screen on press.
Since the live underbase feeds off existing seps if we delete the white separation we alter the underbase. There is a feature for this too. In the underbase feature choose static underbase.
Now we can trash the live underbase and the white separation making this just a 3 color print.
Freehand™ and you together we got this.
